Today, we specialize in growing, processing, and exporting high-quality Bamboo vulgaris, supplying construction, furniture, bioenergy, textiles, and eco-friendly packaging industries with a sustainable, durable, and versatile material. Committed to ethical sourcing and responsible harvesting, we ensure a fully traceable supply chain that meets international standards. As we expand, we are actively seeking global buyers, distributors, and industry partners who want to integrate bamboo into their businesses. MISSION

At Eco Bamboo - East Africa, our mission is to supply high-quality, sustainably sourced bamboo to global markets while empowering local farmers and promoting eco-friendly practices. We aim to bridge the gap between East Africa’s abundant bamboo resources and the growing international demand for sustainable raw materials, fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship.

VISION

Our vision is to become a leading, vertically integrated bamboo enterprise in East Africa, transforming raw bamboo into high-value products for global markets. We strive to build a self-sustaining business model that controls the entire supply chain—from cultivation to processing—while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

GOAL

We aim to establish ourselves as a reliable exporter of bamboo poles, slats and chips building strong partnerships with local farmers in E.Africa to ensure a consistent supply. As we grow, we plan to establish demonstrative farms to serve as resource centers for our out-growers, enabling them to adopt best practices in cultivation, improve quality, and enhance sustainability.

We are a diverse and passionate team brought together by a shared belief in the power of bamboo to transform landscapes, communities, and industries. Our backgrounds may be different, but our mission is the same: to drive sustainable solutions that blend environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and innovation.

🌱 Juan Carlos Sanchez (C.E.O)
Originally from Costa Rica 🇨🇷, Juan Carlos has been a global citizen since 2006. After 12 years in Germany 🇩🇪, where he met his wife, he moved to Uganda 🇺🇬 in 2018 to work on cross-border wetland management. This is where he discovered the magic of bamboo—using it to strengthen riverbanks and create natural land barriers in Busia and beyond. Now a firm believer in bamboo’s potential, he combines his expertise in International Water Law with real-world applications for sustainable development.

🎋 Ojambuka Sulaiman ( Head of Operations)
With over 15 years of experience in Uganda’s agriculture sector, Sulaiman is an expert in meat value addition and sustainable animal husbandry. His deep knowledge of agribusiness and value chain development makes him an invaluable asset in driving sustainable solutions that create lasting impact. His practical, business-driven approach ensures that bamboo’s potential is fully realized—from economic opportunities to environmental restoration.

🌍 Anna Marie-Cécile Theuvenet – Ssuna (Head of Sales & Client Relations)
A proud Dutchie who still loves good 🧀 despite making Uganda her home for the past six years. Married to a Muganda ❤ , Anna leads our Sales and Marketing efforts, ensuring that our bamboo solutions reach the right markets and create lasting impact. With a background in international law, human rights, healthcare, microfinance, and accreditation across Sub-Saharan Africa, she brings a strategic approach to business growth. Her expertise in contract management, fundraising, and networking makes her the perfect connector between people, ideas, and opportunities.

🎋 Jacklyne Namadi Obago (Procurement & Quality Assurance Expert)
A Kenyan with Ugandan roots and an unstoppable passion for bamboo, Jacklyne is both a Forester and Business Administrator with 16 years of hands-on experience in forestry. As a national and international award-winning bamboo expert, she specializes in taxonomy, sustainable management, harvesting, and six value chain product lines. She has worked alongside Juan Carlos on a Green Border Initiative to restore the Sio-Siteko wetlands, showcasing how bamboo can bridge borders—both literally and figuratively.

⚖ Denis Nono Moro (Head Of Legal & Compliance)
A seasoned corporate lawyer with over 17 years of experience, Denis ensures our legal frameworks are rock solid. He began his career as a human rights lawyer with the UN, later transitioning to the Norwegian Refugee Council before spending seven years at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) practicing tax law. His expertise then expanded into insurance law at the National Insurance Corporation. With a deep understanding of corporate, tax, and insurance law, Denis provides strategic legal guidance to ensure compliance, risk management, and the long-term sustainability of our bamboo initiatives.

Dr. Juan Carlos Sanchez Snr(Senior Counsel): A lifelong advocate for people and the planet, Dr. Sanchez brings over five decades of medical experience and a deep commitment to sustainable development to the Green Nile Bamboo team. As a trained medical doctor, he has dedicated his life to healing—both individuals and ecosystems. His passion for nature-based solutions led him to explore sustainable landscaping projects in his natal Costa Rica. More recently, he has brought this vision to East Africa, supporting our team with insight and mentorship; offering wisdom and a human-centered approach to sustainable business.
