About Us
Together, We grow climate solutions that restore ecosystems and support communities
Our Story
Our journey began with a simple yet powerful realization — bamboo is more than a plant; it’s a revolution in sustainability. With expertise in forestry, law, agriculture, business, and conservation, we recognized the potential of East Africa’s bamboo to restore ecosystems, create livelihoods, and fuel industries worldwide.
At Green Nile Bamboo, we cultivate and process three exceptional species — Bambusa vulgaris, Dendrocalamus asper, and Dendrocalamus giganteus — known for their strength, versatility, and rapid growth. Together, they provide high-quality materials for construction, furniture, textiles, bioenergy, and eco-friendly packaging.
Committed to ethical sourcing and responsible harvesting, we ensure a traceable supply chain that meets international standards. As we grow, we welcome buyers, distributors, and innovators to join us in bringing the power of bamboo to the world — one pole, one product, one partnership at a time.

our mission is to supply high-quality, sustainably sourced bamboo to global markets while empowering local farmers and promoting eco-friendly practices. We aim to bridge the gap between East Africa’s abundant bamboo resources and the growing international demand for sustainable raw materials, fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship.
Our vision is to become a leading, vertically integrated bamboo enterprise in East Africa, transforming raw bamboo into high-value products for global markets. We strive to build a self-sustaining business model that controls the entire supply chain—from cultivation to processing—while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
We aim to establish ourselves as a reliable exporter of bamboo poles, slats and chips building strong partnerships with local farmers in E.Africa to ensure a consistent supply. As we grow, we plan to establish demonstrative farms to serve as resource centers for our out-growers, enabling them to adopt best practices in cultivation, improve quality, and enhance sustainability.

Bamboo for Climate Action
At Green Nile Bamboo, we believe bamboo is one of nature’s most powerful allies in the fight against climate change. Fast-growing, deep-rooted, and highly efficient at capturing carbon, bamboo restores degraded landscapes while providing renewable materials that replace wood, steel, and plastic.
Beyond its climate benefits, bamboo plays a critical role in wetland and catchment restoration. Its extensive root system stabilizes soils, filters runoff, and helps recharge groundwater — strengthening both ecosystems and communities. Since 2021, we’ve been testing and scaling this approach in partnership with Wetlands International and Eco Green Kenya, integrating bamboo cultivation into programs that protect wetlands, water resources, and biodiversity across East Africa.
For us, bamboo is not just a product — it’s a living climate solution. Each pole, chip, and biochar unit we produce helps regenerate land, sequester carbon, and build a greener, more resilient future for people and the planet.
